CEDARWEB Tools: Instruments

The CEDAR instrument list has the following components:

KINST            Integer code used in data records
Prefix           Instrument abbreviation used in file names
Name             Instrument name

The Instrument table also includes the following components:

Description      Short description of the instrument
Class Type       Type of Instrument
Observatory      Instrument is run by the specified Observatory
Notes            Notes of interest provided by maintainers and cedar administrators

An instrument is maintained at an observational site. A site can have multiple instruments located it at, and an instrument, over time, can be located at different sites. The Cedar site list has the following components:

ID               Integer code for the site.
KINST            Integer code used in data records
Short Name       Typically the prefix of the instrument, a short name for the site
Long Name        A longer, more descriptive name for the site
Latitude         Geographic latitude, degrees positive East, specied as degrees, minutes, seconds
Longitude        Geographic longitude, degrees positive North, specied as degrees, minutes, seconds
Altitude         Elevation, kilometers above mean sea level
Notes            Notes of interest provided by maintainers and cedar administrators
